5 Celeb Diets To Avoid In 2016: See Which Star Diets Are Too Extreme

There are 5 celeb diets to avoid as 2016 gets underway. In kicking off the new year, many want that quick-fix and hope they can miraculously bypass the dreaded “moderation” route. After all, everyone wants that rockin’ sexy body fast.

It’s easy to be tempted by celebrity-endorsed diets and fads. This is especially true after movie stars get into sizzling shape for demanding roles. Often times they need to be in the best shape of their life, and people want to know their secrets.

In a report by BT, there are 5 celebrity diets to avoid in 2016. We break them down here.

All-kale, chewing gum diet

Jake Gyllenhaal is a noted celeb who used this diet for his role in “Nightcrawler.”

The only thing you can eat on this diet is kale salad and chewing gum.

According to the report, this is one of the 5 celeb diets to avoid in 2016 because it’s an “extreme” diet described as “socially isolating, unbalanced, hard to sustain and potentially harmful.”

Porter said an actor participating in this kind of eating plan needs to be supervised.

“Nothing is wrong with kale, but if that’s all you consume all day, every day, then problems will arise. “It’s all about balance, a healthy relationship with food, and variety,” Porter said.

No sugar diet

Tom Hanks and Alec Baldwin are two celebrities that have reportedly followed this diet.

With the sugar-free diet, all sugar and carbohydrates are excluded. Consultant dietician Sian Porter of the British Dietetic Association says that this the no sugar diet used by some celebs also involves cutting out even the good sugars. Dr. Porter explains that this means “eliminating foods like vegetables, fruit, dairy products and nuts – leading to a less than healthy diet.”

Bulletproof Diet

One Direction band member, Harry Styles, and actress, Shailene Woodley, are named as celebs who’ve tried this radical diet.

The diet consists of “bulletproof coffee,” which is just black coffee with two tablespoons of butter and one tablespoon of MCT oil added. It has roughly 400 calories per cup. Foods are classified as “bulletproof,” “suspect,” or “kryptonite.” There are also rules on timing of meals.

The benefits of this celeb diet is the fact it bars alcohol and process foods. Otherwise, the classification of foods doesn’t align with health recommendations and has little proof that it’s good for your health. Time-restriction is another drawback in regards to health recommendations.

“Consuming 400-plus calories from one beverage provides a lot of energy but few nutrients, rather than individuals choosing food and drink with more nutritional content for the same calorie value,” Porter says.

Super Elixir diet

Supermodel Elle MacPherson is a co-founder of this product. It’s also on the list of celebrity diets to avoid in 2016.

“The Super Elixir” is a green powder food supplement marketed to change body tissue from an acidic to an alkaline state. It has over 45 ingredients that includes powdered fruits, vegetables, sweeteners, Chinese herbs, and some digestive enzymes. Two teaspoons (or 10g) per day is the recommended daily dose.

Dr. Porter says people could save a lot of money on this diet because everyone’s body is “naturally capable of regulating acidity levels.”

Trim Secrets

Baroness Michelle Mone, the founder of lingerie brand Ultimo, created Trim Secrets with a naturopath.

Trim Secrets is a pill that claims to suppress appetite while increasing metabolism, which allegedly helps both men and women to lose the pounds. As the regime goes, it’s suppose to be combined with Trim Secrets 5 Step Slimming Plan. The plan consists of a balanced 1,500-calorie-per-day diet in addition to taking a Trim Secrets capsule three times a day before each meal. Those on the diet need to consume 1.5 liters of water, participate in regular exercise, and avoiding stress.

Porter warns people to “beware of pills and potions” and to know exactly what you’re buying and putting inside your body. Moreover, consuming just 1,500 calories per day will result in weight loss for most people without having do anything else.

There are a lot of celebrity diets people like to try, but most of them are extreme and not meant for the average person to attempt. The list of 5 celeb diets to avoid in 2016 lack health benefits over the long term.
