Buying plus size underwear can be quite a chore if you are unsure how to go about it, especially when there are so many different items to choose from. When it comes to dressing, it’s like building a house, without a great foundation it will fall apart. Here are three tips to keep in mind when buying underwear:
1. Know your size.
Your underwear should never be too small or too big. When underwear is too small it can create lumps, bumps and bulges in all the wrong places. When underwear is too big can cause the rest of your outfit to gape and look very ill-fitting. When it comes to bras make sure you go to a professional to get measured. Most lingerie stores and big department stores usually keep a trained bra fitter among their ranks. When going to get sized and buying just remember that the most important thing is that you’re comfortable and you feel good in what you’re wearing.
2. Shop for your body type
This is a very important step in buying underwear. If you have a large bust, try a minimiser bra. It will give you great support and it won’t look like the girls have a mind of their own. If you have a more full tummy try briefs or high waist panties instead of boy shorts or hipster panties because these will cause bulges whereas high waist panties add a little control.
3. There’s a time and place for everything…Including underwear!
For special occasions where you might end up stripping down to your undies (wink wink) try underwear that is lacy, sheer, and in lush colors. As long as you feel amazing in it then there’s nothing to worry about. But for the everyday try to be more sensible and stick to things that are comfortable and practical.
