Pacific Cup Poster Mug.jpgBack in September, while hyping the (at the time just announced) inaugural Pacific Cup “Border War” game to be played Dec. 15 at the Kent ShoWare Center between the Seattle Mist and the B.C. Angels, Lingerie Football League founder and chairman Mitchell Mortaza told Seattle Weekly, “I think people are realizing it’s a legitimate sport, played by legitimate athletes.”

Was Mortaza right? Has lingerie football reached a point where it’s more about the TDs than the TA? While cynics surely scoffed at such a statement, this weekend’s Seattle vs. Vancouver B.C. clash could help prove his point.

At the very least, it could prove lingerie football’s appeal is as much about TDs as it is TA.

What should we expect from the Pacific Cup “Border War” this weekend? Mortaza told Seattle Weekly his league is hoping for another event showcasing what the LFL is all about – attractive women playing a competitive “new hybrid of the game of football.” The plan is to alternate game sites on a yearly basis between the Seattle area and B.C. The Mist, as you may know, play in the LFL Western Conference’s Pacific Division, while the Angels are one of four LFL Canada teams to debut this year.

Mortaza expects the competition to be fierce this weekend in Kent.

“Seattle is just an incredible sports market,” says Mortaza. “I’m sure it’s not going to be a very friendly [game].”

Seattle Weekly has captured a number of photos of the Seattle Mist in action- both recently and throughout the club’s three-year history.
