American burlesque artist Dita Von Teese’s maiden trip to India has created quite a frenzy.

The stunning star known for risqué retro-styles and 40s Hollywood glamour turned up the heat in the Capital dressed in a sexy Indian sari at the ‘Be Cointreauversial’ event on Tuesday evening at The Leela Palace, New Delhi.

Dita looked every bit her glamourous self in the black net sari teamed with a sequinned bustier designed by Shivan Narresh.

The beauty’s Indian avatar was finished off with ethnic accessories such as a maang tikka, polki earrings and her signature dark lips.

Dita is the global brand ambassador for Cointreau and is here to promote the liquor giant. In an interview with MAIL TODAY she reveals her beauty and fitness tricks, details about her upcoming book and her thoughts on the art of seduction.

The dancer turned heads in her sultry ethnic guise and clearly choose glamour over comfort.

“I like the discipline of dressing like a lady. I wouldn’t say I choose fashion first. I think it’s more like I chose elegance first,” she said.

She wears many hats successfully being an artist, model, dancer, actress and costume designer and credits her success and looks to herself.

She believes a girl’s biggest asset is “being well-groomed”. “You never know who you’ll run into… I think that just deciding what makes you feel good is what’s most important, and taking the time to put your best self forward each day is the best thing to do,” she said.

For all her Indian male fans the actress divulged what attracts her to a man.

“It is ever-changing… But, a particular sense of humour is at the top of the list for me. I also like men who are hard workers… I work very hard, so I cannot stand a lazy man,” she said.

However, in her first lesson on seduction Dita discloses that “men fall for women who are not so easy to get and aren’t needy.

They like to feel they’ve won a treasure, and treasures are not found so easily.”

The actress whose latest endeavour is a step by step guide to her brand of glamour said: “I wanted to make a book that breaks the typical rules of beauty and encourages people to do what they like rather than try to do what’s ‘right’…

The women that I admire dare to be different and convey glamour without trying to fit into the stereotypes of ‘pretty’.

My book is about glamour and the art of creating beauty,” she stated. In the past Dita has revealed that she doesn’t feel objectified when on stage.

“I actually feel objectified when people take pictures of me with their cell phones without asking for permission or when the paparazzi is following and taking pictures of me doing menial, personal things. Being onstage makes me feel empowered.”
