But Evangeline Lilly does not need an expensive evening gown to draw some attention.

The 35-year-old actress showed off her enviably svelte figure in a scantily clad photoshoot for Esquire magazine.

The Hobbit star will be featured in the January/February issue and seen in three different sets of lingerie for the racy pictorial.

In one of the snaps she could be seen in a black bodysuit featuring sheer paneling with a polka dot pattern while she plays the piano.

She completes the look with a pair of white patent leather heels and has natural, complimentary make-up on her face as her short dark locks were disheveled.

In another snap, the Lost star peels away her night robe to show off her pert derriere while standing by double doors and seductively looking into the camera.

Evangeline could also be seen lighting up a cigarette with a match while wearing a lacy black bra.

In the accompanying interview, the Canadian beauty discussed her new children’s book The Squickerwonkers.

On how she came up with the idea of the book the author said: ‘Back then, I lived in my head. My daydreams owned me. All of my friends were imaginary. The everyday world felt like such a distraction.’

However, she does not want to shield children who read her book from reality as she said: ‘I want to replicate their experience with characters they can hopefully relate to, ones that are flawed, lovable, troubled, courageous outcasts.’

The Squickerwonkers is currently on bookshelves and Evangeline could also be seen in The Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies, which is the last of the J.R.R. Tolkien series.
