CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — The owner of a lingerie store in a Cedar Rapids strip mall says city officials are wrong to classify her shop as an “adult entertainment establishment.”

The Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/VL1Ktc) that Patricia Edmonds is scheduled to appear before the city’s Board of Adjustment on Monday to appeal the Building Services Division’s call for her to stop selling adult items.

She told the newspaper that she’s “just trying to run a nice, clean lingerie store.” Edmonds acknowledges carrying some sexually oriented items. The adult magazines, videos and sexual toys sit behind a walled-off area at the rear of the store.

Raymond Nees is the city’s assistant manager of building services. He says those items can be sold only in adult establishments that are allowed in only specific areas of the city.
