If shopping for siblings, relatives and your own kids isn’t tough enough, finding the right gift for coworkers or bosses can be even more daunting.
A U.S. News article advises employees to avoid asking other coworkers to pitch in for a group gift as people may resent spending money on someone who makes more money than they do. Also stay clear of gag gifts in general — the risk of a misunderstood joke is too high.
When shopping for a boss, gift cards scream boring and uncreative, according to shopping site Cool Material. Stay away from “World’s Best Boss” mugs and, of course, lingerie, scales and picture frames that bosses may put even more pictures of kids in.
Being thoughtful is important with coworkers, so leave the food gifts and gift cards on the shelf and pull out the pen for a personal, meaningful note, according to CBS News.
