When it comes to Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriends, they may be endearing, but they’re seldom enduring.

The latest lovely to exit the superstar’s life is Skokie native and Niles North grad Erin Heatherton — a major supermodel, cover girl and famous Victoria’s Secret “Angel.”

The duo reportedly have split very amicably — which is almost always the way DiCaprio breaks things off. “With Leo, there rarely is any big drama or ugly scene,” said a longtime friend of the actor Sunday. “Leo is a total gentleman, but when it comes to women, he just gets, well, bored. He’s a very bright guy and so far, with the exception of maybe [ex-girlfriends] Bar [Rafaeli] and Giselle [Bundchen], he often finds he loses interest pretty quickly. You can only keep interested because of the sexual attraction for so long.”

Heatherton, 23, and DiCaprio, 37, began dating seriously in November 2011, while the actor was down in Australia filming the remake of “The Great Gatsby.”

MIXING IT UP: After playing the flamboyantly (though closeted) gay entertainer Liberace in the upcoming “Behind the Candelabra,” Michael Douglas next goes in a different on-screen direction in “Las Vegas,” currently filming in its namesake city.

The Oscar winner stars as a sixtysomething womanizing playboy who gathers a bunch of his buddies for a bachelor party in the Nevada gambling mecca, as he prepares to marry for the first time — to a woman half his age. Robert De Niro also stars as a former Douglas rival — for the affections of a woman — in a cast that includes Kevin Kline and Morgan Freeman.

‘STAR WARS’ HELMER? With all the hoopla over George Lucas’ $4 billion-plus sale of his Lucasfilm empire to Disney — and news the Mouse conglomerate will be releasing “Star Wars” films into an indefinite future — speculation already has arisen in Hollywood over who some likely directors may be for the first new movie, slated for a 2015 release. Names already cropping up include South Side native Robert Zemeckis, “Batman” pro Christopher Nolan, David Fincher and Joss Whedon.

FILM FLASH: Congrats to Chicago International Film Festival founder and artistic director Michael Kutza, who will be honored with the Sydney Pollack Award from American Cinematheque, the prestigious Hollywood-based organization dedicated to the celebration of motion pictures in all its forms.

Kutza will be presented his award — named for the late, great director of such films as “Out of Africa,” “Tootsie,” “The Way We Were” and “The Firm” — Nov. 15 at a American Cinematheque’s annual gala at the Beverly Hilton.

VERY COOL DEAL: Chicago charities often offer some pretty intriguing auction prizes to help raise money for various worthy causes in Our Town. But here’s an intriguing one, part of the live auction at the PAWS “Fur Ball” on Friday at the Drake Hotel. Some lucky person will pony up to buy this: The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan both will host an event at his new Zulu tea house — and also perform at a private concert!

GERSHWIN REDUX: Fans of the uber-talented Hershey Felder will be happy to know the maestro will be back in the area performing his “George Gershwin Alone” show at the North Shore Center in Skokie for two performances Saturday and Sunday.

GREAT GESTURE: Yoshi and Nobuko Katsumura are doing something special to toast their Yoshi’s Café’s 30th anniversary this month. The couple are hosting a fund-raising dinner at their North Halsted Street restaurant Nov. 13 to support relief efforts tied to the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. For the occasion, the Katsumuras are importing ingredients from Yoshi’s hometown of Hitachinaka City, Japan, specifically for this gourmet dinner. For more information, call (773) 607-4506.

CASTING CALL: “America’s Got Talent” producers are heading out on their largest open casting call in the talent show’s history — including a stop in Chicago. While auditions begin mid-month in L.A., the show’s cross-country search for talent will be at McCormick Place on Jan. 26 and 27. For more information, go to agtauditions.com or nbc.com/agt.

BLOG BANTER: These days, everyone and their cousin has a blog, but Chicagoan Susan Good, wife of the well-known real estate executive Sheldon Good, has launched a blog she hopes will dispel old-fashioned ideas about grandmothers.

Susie’s GrammaGood.com hopes to prove that “grandmas” can be hip to current trends, be in shape and still play a role in their grandchildren’s lives — as she does with her 15 grandkids.

Good’s goal is to provide an online “meeting place” for grandmothers around with world, where they can share life lessons from their own unique experiences.
