Players from the Toronto Triumph team took part in a semi-naked photoshoot to encourage shoppers to leave fur alone this Christmas, by not writing it down on wishlists.

Not only did the female athletes strip for the cause but they also appear in a video to promote the anti-fur message.

‘When you wear that fur jacket you don’t ever really think about: “What happened to this animal for me to be putting this on?”‘ says one of the players.

The video also shows rabbits being electrocuted and one elephant suffering from whip attacks.

Each of the Toronto Triumph girls who were photographed in the buff, also joined Peta demonstrators at the Toronto Eaton Center earlier this week.

Animals such as bears, chinchillas, foxes, minks and dogs are just a few of the many animals that suffer cruelty at the hands humans for entertainment and fashion purposes every year, the group claims.

Peta has campaigned to make more people aware of the problem and take action, and using the profile of the girls from the Lingerie Football League is one way the organisation hopes to get people talking again.

‘Wearing fur is a personal foul,’ says Peta campaigner Emily Lavender. ‘With so many stylish, warm and durable fabrics available today, there’s no excuse for wearing anyone’s skin.’
