Hampton police launch iPhone tips app – WAVY

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – The Hampton Police Division is launching an iPhone app that enables the public to send anonymous tips to police and lets the police respond back, creating a two way anonymous “chat.”
Police said the free “HPD Tips” app puts a powerful new crime fighting tool into the hands of the community for all ages and demographics.
According to Chief Jordan, this capability is a new paradigm for creating safer communities, especially in reaching out to a younger demographic.
The app can be downloaded at the iTunes store or by visiting the Hampton Police Facebook page .
Citizens can also send an anonymous tip to the Hampton Police Division by texting the word 757HPD and their tip to 847411.
